| Published on June 16, 2021

Chess.com recently held a charity event Checkmate COVID, to raise COVID relief funds for those affected in our country. For the same, various famous personalities like Nikhil Kamath, Viswanathan Anand, Aamir Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala, Yuzvendra Chahal and Riteish Deshmukh featured in the event to help raise those funds.

Now, although all celebrities lost to Viswanathan Anand, chess grandmaster and former world chess champion, Nikhil Kamath, co-founder and CIO of Zerodha shocked everyone with his win against the famous world champion. He was also awarded an accuracy of 99%!

The Chess players community took this defeat with a pinch of salt and popular International Chess YouTuber, Agadmator conducted a post-match analysis which showed that Nikhil had violated the ‘Fair-Play’ policy. In a video that he released on his channel later, one can see how.

Post this, Nikhil’s chess.com game account was also closed down. He later Tweeted an apology and said that he took help from some people and computers to analyse the game.

This news soon went viral with everyone joining in on the discussion. With famous personalities commenting on the situation, the matter escalated very quickly and caught on with everyone soon enough.

Memes and jokes also went rife at the situation with everyone commenting and expressing their views.
