The digital ecosystem is evolving very fast as each platform is aiming to provide a complete experience to the users. Meta Chief Mark Zuckerberg has now announced WhatsApp Channels in over 150 countries including India. It is a one-way broadcasting tool to send messages to a large audience.
To promote this new feature, WhatsApp has partnered with multiple celebrities including Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Neha Kakkar, Vijay Devarakonda, Diljit Dosanjh. Even BCCI has also launched a channel for the Indian Cricket Team on WhatsApp.
When the first roll-out of this Channel option was released, WhatsApp had launched a video campaign that showcased the features and how users can make the most of this new update.
Below are the features that WhatsApp has introduced using Channels:
Enhanced Directory:
Users can find channels that they want to follow. These channels will be filtered based on the country.
Reactions:
Users can react using emojis and see the total number of reactions.
Editing:
Channel admins can make changes to their updates up to 30 days.
Forwarding:
If users forward something from channels to chats or groups, it will have a link back to the channel so that others can know about the source and know more details.
