| Published on July 5, 2019

In the age of today social media has proved to be an extremely beneficial medium. Over the years we’ve seen social media evolve from their only meet and greet phase to now coming handy and providing life-saving features.

Making an excellent use of these social media features recently Gorapkhpur police tracked down two girls who has been reported missing in the city on June 28. The Gorakhpur police tweeted their photographs on their social media handle which was later re-tweeted by the UP Police.

Vishwakarma, a Twitter user came across the tweet and instant recognised the two girls and informed the Railway Protection Force (RPF) who then took the girls into their custody and  informed authorities in Gorakhpur.

Rescued within 20 hours, it was later revealed that the girls were upset with their families over some trivial issue which is exactly why they planned to run away from their homes.

UP Director General of Police, O.P. Singh shared that a letter of appreciation would be awarded to the alert citizen who had helped in the recovery of the girls. Also, the social media cell of the Gorakhpur Police would be felicitated for their incredible work.

So in case you’re having thoughts of running away right now, it’s best to hold that thought because you may run away from the eyes of your families but not the eyes of social media.
