Brand image is something every successful company works on. Having right image in the market makes customers trust a brand leading to an increase in sales. Every year Interbrand, a brand consultancy firm ranks world’s top brands according to three major factors- brand strength (positive perception among customers), market value and future plans.
After analysing these factors, Interbrand looks at “overall financial return to an organization’s investors, or its economic profit,” “the ability of the brand to create loyalty and, sustainable demand and profit into the future.”
Here’s a list of top 10 global brands in 2019:
10. Disney
Brand value: $44.3 million
Disney’s market is around $240.2 billion and it is expected to get stronger with Disney+. Interbrand found that Disney’s strengths are differentiation, commitment, and presence. Its brand value has increased 11% in the last year.
9. McDonald’s
Brand value: $44.53 million
McDonald’s has a $158.5 billion market cap and in the last year increased by 4%. Interbrand believes that its strengths are commitment, differentiation, and presence. With the launch of a plant-based burger, its future plans look promising.
8. Mercedes-Benz
Brand value: $50.8 million
Mercedes-Benz is owned by Daimler and its brand value increased by 5% because of its commitment, relevance and responsiveness.
7. Toyota
Brand value: $56.2 million
With a market cap of roughly $222 billion, Toyota has grown 5% based on its relevance, authenticity, and presence.
6. Samsung
Brand value: $61 million
Samsung has a market cap of $284 billion which increased by 2% in the last year. It has responsiveness, relevance and authenticity.
5. Coca-Cola
Brand value: $63.4 million
Coca-Cola actually declined 4% in the last year. Despite that, it sits at number 5 because of its impressive history.
4. Microsoft
Brand value: $108.8 million
With over $1 trillion market cap, Microsoft has improved markedly this year by 17% due to its clarity, relevance and responsiveness.
3. Amazon
Brand value: $125 million
E-commerce giant Amazon stands at $885.3 billion. Its strengths are responsiveness, relevance, and presence, and it grew 24% in the last year.
2. Google
Brand value: $167.7 million
With a market cap of $869 billion, Google’s market cap increased 8%. It all around presence and relevance made it to this list.
1. Apple
Brand value: $234.2 million
Apple is the world’s strongest brand according to Interbrand. it has a market cap of over $1 trillion. It grew 9% in the last year because of differentiation, governance, and engagement.
