Sony To Launch A Wearable Air Conditioner

Summers in India can be extremely painful but looks like Sony has got our back on this one. 

Sony’s soon to launch product Reon Pocket is a solution for all our summer troubles. The product is a wearable air conditioner that can be worn as a special undershirt. The size of the device is smaller than a mobile phone and weighs only 85 gms. The ac releases cool air through a small panel on the rear. It comes with a rechargeable battery that lasts up to 90 minutes to two hours after charging. 

The temperature of the device comes handy as it can be controlled on smartphone through bluetooth connectivity. Sony estimates that the Reon Pocket can help cool the temperatures of the user’s body by 13° C in the summer. In contrast, the device can also warm the body by 8° C in the winters.

The device is controlled by an app on the user’s phone which is compatible with both Android and iOs. It needs to be worn on the back or neck with dedicated underwear. The device has adopted a Peltier (thermoelectric cooling) element that can be cooled and heated efficiently.

Sony will be launching two variants of the product- Reon Pocket Standard and Reon Pocket Lite. The Sony Reon Pocket is priced at approx Rs.8,963 for one one device and one undershirt. The advanced Reon Pocket with 5 undershirts is priced at Rs.12,093. 

The device is yet to be rolled out for sale. The Reon Pocket will undergo crowd-funding to reach its goal, only after reaching the goal will Sony start shipping in March 2020.
