RIP: Windows Phones Are Officially Gone, Urges Users To Move To Android or iPhone

| Published on January 25, 2019

Microsoft phones has been struggling the crisis for a long time now. Resting this struggle, they have finally announced the closure of all the supports for windows phones this year. The Redmond-based tech firm stated in its official FAQ page that it will no longer roll-out “new security updates, non-security hotfixes, free assisted support options or online technical content updates” for the same.

Enough time to wind up

Now the question is what will happen to the windows phone users? According to the latest news by Times of India, it has been stated that all the supports are supposed to end on December 10, 2019. This indirectly is a message to all the users that you have enough time to switch to Android or Apple.

The timer has started ticking

Not to forget, the aforementioned point is applied only to the Windows 10 Mobile (version 1709) users. Apart from the latest Windows 10 users, it is time to tie up your shoelaces and try your hands on the two most popular operators – Android or iPhone. And, if you are a Lumia 640 or 640 XL user, the timer seems to be running faster for you. For these older versions, the supports are most likely to close on June 11, 2019.

Will it actually end on the stated dates?

While the dates have been officially announced, some services will still be available to cut you some slack. “After the end of support, automatic or manual creation of new device backups for settings and some applications will continue for 3 months, ending March 10, 2020. Some services including photo uploads and restoring a device from an existing device backup may continue to work for up to another 12 months from the end of support,” – said the Page.
