A cyber outage on Friday triggered widespread panic worldwide, impacting IT systems in multiple countries, including India. This disruption affected crucial sectors such as airports, banks, media, and telecom.
Microsoft experienced an outage impacting several of its services, including Outlook, OneDrive, OneNote, Xbox App, Microsoft Teams, PowerBI, Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft 365 Admin Centre, Microsoft Purview, and Viva Engage.
Hours into the Microsoft outage, Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the department is actively engaging with Microsoft and its associates regarding the issue.
“The reason for this outage has been identified and updates have been released to resolve the issue,” the minister said adding that CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team) was issuing a technical advisory.
Vaishnaw asserted that the National Informatics Centre’s (NIC) network was not affected.
