Online English Class Uses Shashi Tharoor’s Name In Ad Campaign, Goes Viral

| Published on October 21, 2020

A very recent Ad campaign by KD Campus Live– an online, video-based teaching platform, incorporated a line in their video advertisement which, when translated in English reads along the lines of
“Learn only 50 English words and become Shashi Tharoor by tonight, 10 pm”

The Thiruvananthapuram MP, Mr Shashi Tharoor, known for using words which one wouldn’t be able to decipher or understand in everyday colloquial English, is usually one to ride on them with a hearty laugh, on occasions where he is regarded for his literary extempore.

The Ad which was posted only last week has been doing its rounds on the internet and ultimately reached Mr Tharoor. He later commented on the Ad in hindi and shared it on his social media stating “Mujhe nahin lag raha hain ki 50 shabdon se Shashi Tharoor banega,” which essentially means “I don’t really think anyone can become Shashi Tharoor by only learning 50 words”

Tharoor has previously been in situations where his posts have gone viral because of the exasperating amount of vocabulary used. It was only natural for a company to use his name to promote their classes which would be teaching the language.
