Former Co-Founder of Koo, Mayank Bidawatka, has now started a new venture- Billion Hearts Software Technologies. The development comes months after Koo was shut down.
He took to LinkedIn to announce the same. Bidawatka co-founded Koo in March 2020 and was a part of the Company until July 2024.
Koo, an Indian microblogging platform, was developed as a homegrown alternative to Twitter (now X). It became popular in 2021 when many government officials and people of India started to use the application amid rising concerns about Twitter’s compliance with Indian regulations.
It positioned itself as a social media platform for sharing ‘thoughts and opinions in Indian languages,’ providing features similar to Twitter but with a focus on the country’s diverse linguistic landscape.
However, by 2023, the application failed to stabilise the user base and became unprofitable in terms of functioning. The app was shut down earlier this year due to financial difficulties in maintaining the social media platform.
He also co-founded Goodbox in August 2015 and Media Ant in June 2012. Between August 2007 and May 2012, he was a part of Coreteam, Foundation Team of redBus.
From May 2006 to August 2007, he was associated with ICICI Bank as Product and Portfolio Manager. In April 2003, he worked at Lowe Lintas as Client Servicing.
