Matrimonial Ad Goes Viral For Wrong Reasons, Agency Apologizes

| Published on July 29, 2018

A match-making advertisement, which was published in an English newspaper, went viral for all the wrong reasons. This ad invited ‘young achievers’ looking for a partner from ‘ultra rich families’ and ‘beautiful girls’ has taken everyone by surprise, and has provoked many Bengaluru citizens to express their anger.

People on social media were quick to react after knowing this.

Very pathetic thought process !

Never knew being beautiful qualifies as an achievement!

It looks like less of a matrimony more of an escort type event.

The event was scheduled at The Leela, Bangalore, and the registration fee was Rs. 10,000 for ‘young achievers’ who are defined as successful entrepreneurs, eminent professionals from IAS, IPS, IRS or scientist, youngsters graduated from top universities like IIM, IIT etc. and Rs. 25,000 for ‘ultra-rich families’.

On talking about this ad, N Sreeram, the event organiser said that there was a mistake in the advertisement that was published and they are aware of the backlash it has been getting for the use of the word “beautiful”. “Several girls have objected to that word and we will give out an apology, to have upset so many people,” he added.

The ad agency decided to apologize on this and the ad has been removed.
