With current expansions in the process, India is a bit market for Amazon and the company has committed some $5.5 billion to build up its network here. With these kinds of targets, it’s obvious that the demands of technology workers are at its peak. Within Indian, Bangalore tops the list where a significant portion of close to one million workers are employed in the outsourcing business that caters to the global audience and hence late night and weekend working is a common scenario.

The Concerns

Depression, High Blood Pressure, Insomnia, Suicidal Tendencies are some of the most commonly surfacing symptoms and the doctors around the world have been raising their concerns on these issues.
“These days I see many 25- and 28-year-olds suffering heart attacks, something I haven’t seen in my four decades in this field,” said Dr. S. Kalyanasundaram, a well-known psychiatrist who sees many technology workers in his thriving south Bangalore practice.

The doctor said all of his Saturday appointments are reserved for tech workers and often booked months in advance.

“For many, there’s only one life and that’s the work life,” Kalyanasundaram said. “It’s a disaster; it’s a ticking time bomb waiting to explode.”

In such trying times, Agarwal’s advise seems a relief and inspiration and hopefully others can implement it too.
