The Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) has cautioned the public about certain individuals/entities engaging in fraudulent advertising practices on various social media platforms by misusing the image of their senior officials or ex-officials, the brand logo and name.
In a post on X, LIC urged its policyholders, stakeholders, and the public to be cautious and verify the authenticity of such advertisements on social media platforms that include their brand elements or claims purportedly linked to them.
LIC, in their public caution notice, said, “It has come to our attention that certain individuals and/or entities are engaging in fraudulent advertising practices on various social media platforms by misusing the image of our senior officials/or ex-officials, our brand logo, and our brand name without out consent in an unauthorised manner. We wish to alert the public in regard to such deceptive activities.”
It has requested the public that in case they encounter suspicious advertising or misuse of their brand assets, then they should report the URL (link) to them immediately on their official social media accounts.
“We are taking this matter seriously and will pursue appropriate legal action against those found engaging in fraudulent activities using our brand without authorisation,” LIC stated.
