Italy has been gaining a lot of popularity on social media with its dollar homes. The government has been practically giving away residential areas to anyone willing to move to these deserted villages.
Whether it is in search of better job opportunities or just to move to bigger cities for a better life, these villages have become emptier by the day with people leaving.
Therefore, in order to repopulate or even boost tourism, the Italian government has been offering many attractive offers to willing takers. After dollar homes, a new trend to help improve local business there is picking up the pace.
Lazio region in central Italy is offering people a grant of €2,000 (£1,666) to host their weddings or civil unions in the area in an effort to help boost the local wedding business sector which has been affected after the pandemic.
The initiative is called “Lazio with love”. Under this, €10 million (£8.3 million) has been allocated to give both Italian and foreign couples refunds of up to €2,000 when they purchase services or products from local caterers, wedding planners, florists, wedding planners, and events companies for the big day.
To make it even more irresistible, the grant may even cover honeymoon costs, photography services, and wedding entertainment.
Any and all weddings and civil unions which have or will take place between 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2022 will be eligible for the grant.
Couples who take up the regional offer will need to provide proof of a maximum of five receipts. Applications can be submitted up until 31 January 2023, or until the funds run out.
The application, complete with all the data required by the notice, must be prepared and presented, under penalty of exclusion, through the telematic counter available at the site https://regione.lazio.it/nellazioconamore starting from February 28, 2022, at 10.00.
