This Hyderabad-Based Startup Has Launched World’s First Smart Policing Robot

A Hyderabad-based startup, named H-Bots Robotics has made a smart policing robot which can help in recognising people, detecting bombs and identifying suspects to interact with people. The five-foot-seven-inch smart robot has cameras and an array of sensors connected to GPS in the beta version. All the components used in developing this robot have been sourced from within the country.

H-Bots Robotics has spent around Rs 40 lakh on research and development of this robot. The company has already received 20 orders and aims at producing 70 robots in the first year. The company has made this robot for security purposes to solve the problems of police, army and security agencies both in India and overseas. It can protect public and private areas places such as malls, airports, offices, buildings.

PSV Kisshhan, the founder of H-Bots Robotics said “We have been provided support from the Assam Police and also the Telangana Police who helped us with information on their operations and also gave us feedback to develop further. We will be testing this on the ground in the next few months, improve it and they will be deployed by June,”

It has been equipped with a system where people can lodge a complaint with the police using video, audio and photos. A complaint number will be given to the person who complains through this robot which can help in tracking the status of action done by police. It can also do face and gesture recognition to control theft. In addition, the robocop can communicate in 6 different languages, while English is already inbuilt the regional languages are getting tested. The Robot will be available at a price of Rs 5 lakh.

Telangana State IT secretary Jayesh Ranjan appreciated the team and said: “Hyderabad which has always been known for IT is making progress in hardware as well. This is the good sign for the ecosystem. The robot brings together the strengths of IT and hardware. There is a huge potential for robotics and finds application in wide-ranging sectors such as the healthcare and e-commerce.”

H-Bots has also signed a deal with Thailand based Amigo Group that has invested has invested $1 million for research and development in this startup. Amigo believes that this robot can help them in marketing and quality control in real estate and at the reception in their hotels and restaurants.
