When you come across news articles, how many of them are actually genuine? Living in a time when most of the country is under a lockdown, it is more crucial than ever to have genuineness. To give the industry a boost, Google is bringing in a few investments that will ensure that readers only get true cover stories. The launch of the Google News Showcase in India will help you find trending news across different segments that are verified by the brand itself.
Which newspapers are a part of Google News Showcase?
Currently, 30 publishers have joined hands with this new platform with some of the most popular ones being The Hindu Group, NDTV, Amar Ujala, ABP LIVE, ANI, and The Telegraph. This platform is quite popular in the UK, Argentina, Australi, and Japan, to name a few, and already has 700+ publishers onboard.
A $1 billion partnership with leading news publishers in India was announced in October 2020, by Google CEO and Founder of Alphabet, Sundar Pichai. Publishers will be paid to curate and culminate true stories. Quality journalism will be given a push enabling high-quality online content. This will help in sustaining the news partners around the world.
Most of the content from these dedicated news publishers will be available for readers in English and Hindi. Other languages will also follow suit, paying more attention to regional languages for the diverse population in India.
As a reader, you will not be limited to just what’s happening in the country today but can also access more stories by the publisher which would have not been possible otherwise.
Will you enjoy reading your morning news through this portal?
