Google Has Banned Users From Negatively Reviewing About Past Jobs

| Published on January 3, 2018

In the new update of its review policies, Google has banned users from posting negative comments on their previous working places on the my business tool. The company has done this to make the reviews more accurate and meaningful. My Business is a tool that appears on a user’s screen when he/she tries to find a business using the Google search engine or its maps functions.

Previously, former employees had complete freedom of posting any kind of review of the workplaces they used to work at. Google now the considers actions such as negative reviews in the “conflict of interest” section. Google explained that negative comments can cause a big harm to any company’s image and it was not easy for them to check each comment one by one. Many companies used to post negative comments about their competitors to degrade the ratings.

After this move, companies can directly contact Google to remove any review that looks unfair to the firm. This will make the ratings of the companies better and people will get unbiased information as many frustrated employees used to write fake stories about the company after they stopped working there.
