Big brands like Timex, Rolex, Breitling and Tag Heuer are all always seen competing against each other to get their brand name positioned at the top. For doing so, they target the audience with some strategic moves. Have you ever wondered while buying a new watch that all the companies set the time of their watches to 10:10 while advertising? Well, there are reasons behind this and today we are sharing them with you.

Symmetry in the look

With 10:10 as the timing, perfect vertical symmetry is ensured. This is one of the major reasons why 10:10 is the favorite among watch manufacturers.

The ‘Smiley’ appearance

Customers tend to buy the products that give them a happy feeling. Earlier, 8.20 was the time used for ads, but after realizing that it looked more like a frown that dissuades people. Brands opted for 10:10 for that ‘smiley’ like appearance.

Clear visibility

As there is no overlap of hands when we set the time as 10:10, all attributes like secondary dials, date, type and brand name are clearly visible. The brand name is highlighted perfectly with it.

Symbol of victory is created

When time is set to 10:10, it creates a ‘victory’ like symbol. This helps to tap into the emotions of people. This is considered to be a good emotional marketing gimmick.
