Creative Marketing Strategies Of Mardaani 2 That Made It A Success

Rani Mukherji is making a come back after a brief period of time post her pregnancy. The movie Mardaani 2 is a sequel to Mardaani which released in 2014. Rani Mukherji was the lead protagonist in that too.

The first movie was loved by the viewers a lot for its storyline as well as for everyone’s acting too. The second part also projects a very sensitive issue that has been affecting our nation for long now.

Rani Mukherji is playing the role of the fierce cop Shivani Roy yet again who is doing her best to catch the serial killer, played by Vishal Jethwa.

However, the team did tones of promotion pre & post the release. Here is a complete timeline of all the marketing strategies taken up by the production team.

The Official Announcement

Shanoo Sharma, who is the casting director of the Yash Raj Films, shared the official announcement/disclaimer of the upcoming movie.

BTS & Crew Bonding

The makers shared the behind the scenes moments and moments where Rani bonded with the crew on the sets. The pictures where shared on the official Instagram handle of the movie, giving us all a glimpse of what went into making the masterpiece.

Introducing Shivani Roy

The character of Rani Mukherji, Shivani Roy, was introduced in her full glory, all dressed in her cop uniform. The look was similar to what it was in the previous one but it did not disappoint.

Buzz Around The Teaser

The trailer teaser was launched creating the right amount of buzz for the movie.

YRF released the trailer soon after the pre-buzz via the teasers. It depicted how Roy is haunted by the rapes and murders of young women by a ferocious criminal.


The makers started a hashtag by the name #Shewontstop to support the social cause in an impactful manner. They posted questions as movie posters regarding the critical situation of the crimes against women in the country.

Meeting The Real Deal.

The makers wanted to get a better understanding of how things are done on the ground. For this Rani met the female night-patrols. This goes in line with the theme of Mardaani2 who very much like the valiant females, was set on undaunted tasks without caring for her own life.

Rani even went to the headquarters to meet the cyber-crime team.

The next stop was the meet with the traffic cops.

Rani Mukerji went on to meeting Archana Tyagi, the valiant leader and Additional Director General of Police, also the Chief of Maharashtra S.R.P.F.

Apart from all this, the makers did the usual show appearances & interviews which were again well received by the viewers and just added to the entire buzz.

From meeting the Dabang Salman Khan on the sets of BB13 to doing a show with 9XM India, Rani left no stone unturned to make the promotions go just right

Mardaani2 was released this Friday on 13th Dec and has received an 8.3 IMDB rating which is pretty amazing. But how much the movie ultimately earns at the box office is yet to know.
