Chumbak’s Journey From A Small Company To A Leading Lifestyle Brand In India

Chumbak has become one of the most stylish home decor and accessories brands in India. The products range that the brand offers is vast and has the most unique colorful design. The brand gained popularity in no time and has become one of the leading brand names in its field in the country.

Bangalore-based Chumbak is the result of the sheer hard work and vision of its founders Shubhra Chadda and Vivek Prabhakar. The brand started off as a souvenir store back in 2010.

The couple shared a love for traveling and wanted people to take back mementos for their time spent in the country. They found that there were not many varieties when it came to souvenirs and the patented Taj Mahal replica and local handicrafts were available. They came up with a brand that offered options that were both stylish and reflecting the feel of India.

Shubhra & Vivek started the business with an initial investment of Rs 40 Lakhs which they got by selling their 3BHK apartment in Bangalore and raise capital for their unique. In a couple more years, the brand added many more products to its range like stationeries, bags and wallets, jewelry, key chains, apparel, and home furnishings.

In 2014, the brand gained so much popularity that it decided to open up its first flagship store in Indiranagar. The brand used this opportunity to introduce its home decor range in its quirky yet stylish designs.

The couple expressed their happiness of having the opportunity to start their company in Bangalore since the city has always been welcoming to new ideas. Chumbak is now aiming for Rs 400 crore target for their annual revenue within the next few years.

The brand’s achievements can be witnessed by the fact that Google has recently selected Chumbak as one of the three companies worldwide for a case study on how companies have successfully used Google services.
