Hansoh Pharmaceutical Group is the largest psychotropic drug maker in China. Last Friday, the company saw a sudden surge in its share prices, which was about 37 percent. This, alone, added $7.9 billion to Zhong Huijuan’s fortune.

Zhong has set an example for all self-made women in Asia and the world, by becoming Asia’s richest self-made woman, who even surpassed her husband, Sun Piaoyang, in terms of wealth. He has a worth of $9.2 billion, earned also from a drug manufacturing company, Jiangsu Hengrui Medicine Co.

With the recent surge of the share prices, the couple has even become a part of the richest pharma families of the world, with a close competition to Mortimer and Raymond Sackler of Purdue Pharma, which manufactures OxyContin, and a Sweedish Bertarelli family, which has earned from drugs and pharmaceuticals as well, a $16.3 billion worth of fortune.
