Bollywood Stars Who Started Their Careers With TV Ads

The advertising industry has played an essential role in the lives of many successful Bollywood stars. From the beauty queen Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to the sensational Shahid Kapoor, here’s the list of top Bollywood stars who started out their careers with the television commercials and are now making big on the silver screens. 

1. Shahid Kapoor and Ayesha Takia

Shahid and Ayesha’s acting career started at a very young age when they appeared as child artists in Horlicks ad in the 1990s’. They also later appeared together in Bollywood film “Dil Maange More” which failed at the box office.

2. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan 

Even before being crowned the Miss World Aishwarya appeared in Coca Cola advertisement in 1993 with Aamir Khan.

3. Anushka Sharma

The beautiful Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma first appeared in a south Indian TV commercial of for a soap brand named Sebolin.

4. Deepika Padukone

The iconic “Kya Aap Close-Up Karte Hain….????” ad for the toothpaste brand Close up starred the beautiful leading lady of Bollywood Deepika Padukone.

5. Varun Dhawan 


Varun also started acting as a child artist and first appeared in Bournavita commercial. He was just for a blink and miss moment and was too young to be recognized in the video.

6. Preity Zinta

The dimple girl Preity Zinta first appeared in the Perk ad before eventually making it big in Bollywood.

7. Vidya Balan 

Before hitting the silver screen with her breathtaking performances Vidya Balan first appeared in a Surf Excel commercial back in the 90s’ where she played a mother to a school kid. She then later bagged her role in the famous TV serial “Hum Paanch”.
