Anand Mahindra Thanks Alag Natarajan, Fondly Known As Matkaman

| Published on October 29, 2021

With the rat race taking a toll on every individual, its pleasing to see some people practice selflessness. And when you meet or hear about someone who has undertaken a random act of kindness, you automatically start respecting them and faith in humanity is instilled, yet again. The same will happen when you hear of Alag Natarajan, fondly known as Matka Man.

An entrepreneur from England, Alag Natarajan, returned to his country with a wish to serve his people in best possible ways he could. He started his work and a website- matkaman.com, to undertake many such activities which help the needy in different ways. Based in Delhi, this cancer survivor quietly serves people in the capital

Armed with a team of now six, after his mother-in-law passed away this year, and his dog Snoopy, he executes small acts of kindness that go a long way. He has provided the poor in the capital of the country with drinking water kept in matkas (clay pots). These matkas, developed and set up by him in South Delhi, have his personal contact number to notify when there is no water in it. He maintains them every day, needing upto 2,000 litres of water in summer.

Along with this he distributes a nutritious and power-packed salad, to workers on construction sites in his customized van, serving around 150 people, twice or thrice a week. He has also placed around 100 cycle pumps in his neighborhood for cycle-goers to fill air any time of the day. To ensure road safety, he distributes glow in the dark stickers and nozzles for wheels. All of this is done using two vehicles- a small van and a Mahindra Bolero maxitruck. Inspiring quotes by Mahatma Gandhi and W.H.Auden are seen written on the sides of the truck.

People like him are an inspiration and though many people have praised his efforts, Anand Mahindra, who is known for being twitter active, recently shared his video and tweeted about him.

He thanked Natarajan for making the Bolero brand, a part of his selfless deeds. The video has been viewed more than 62,000 times and received positive responses from netizens.
