Anand Mahindra Offers Internship To A Millionaire’s Son Who Left Home To Have His Own Identity

Chairman of Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra recently took to Twitter to applaud the efforts of a 19-year-old who to prove his potential to his parents ran away to Shimla.

Dwarkesh Thakkar who is the son of a millionaire oil trader Rakesh Thakker was not just praised by the leading industrialist of the country but has also been offered an internship.

Mahindra’s tweet read, “Doing a Sunday catch-up on my reading. I admire this young man. He wanted to strike out on his own. He may seem just like an eccentric runaway, but he could also be tomorrow’s successful, independent entrepreneur. I’d be happy to offer him an internship at @MahindraRise!”

On being asked about the tweet and the opportunity Dwarkesh in an interview with Times Of India said, “It is a great opportunity for me and I will definitely take it up if I can get in touch with anyone from the company.”

Rakesh Thakkar also said in an interview with TOI that Dwarkesh his son has had just one aim in his life which is to make it big on his own one day.

Dwarkesh who is an engineering student and was attending college in Padra, his hometown left for college on October 14 but did not return home. With merely Rs.1,250 in his pocket he ended up taking a train to Delhi and was later found after a month by two Vadodra police officers during the Diwali holidays washing utensils in a hotel in Shimla and sleeping on the roads.

As per the report he had been working in this hotel for over a month. Dwarkesh apparently didn’t want to continue with his engineering and wanted to prove himself to his family which is why he ran away.
