March 11th, 1989 is the day when Tim Berners-Lee launched the World Wide Web. Today, most people use “internet” and “web” interchangeably but they actually refer to different things. The internet is known as the global network of computers that are able to communicate with one another and the web is the public’s main way of accessing this network and was proposed by Berners-Lee in the late 80s.
Internet and World Wide Web has changed the world we live in and its future. Today, it is very easy to consume content made in other countries and stay connected with people all across the world. Also, internet has led to the foundation of world’s richest companies right now and to celebrate the 30th birthday of WWW, brands came up with creative posts to spread their love for this invention. And yes, it will be an incomplete article if we don’t share what the guy who actually invented the internet posted.
In 1991, the High Performance Computing Act paved the way for what used to be known as the “Information Superhighway.” I was proud to write the legislation and to help ensure the Internet supports a free democracy, a standard we must continue to protect. #Web30 #ForTheWeb
