Netflix India’s content head, Monika Shergill, met with Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju in New Delhi on Tuesday. The meeting took place amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the web series ‘IC-814: The Kandahar Hijack’.
The meeting at Jaju’s office lasted approximately 40 minutes, where the OTT platform official was informed about the concerns raised by a significant portion of society and the importance of being sensitive when addressing such topics.
As per media reports, expressing concern about the portrayal of terrorists in the web series, a senior official emphasised that no one has the right to undermine the sentiments of the nation.

“Nobody has the right to play with the sentiments of the people of this nation. Indian culture and civilisation should always be respected. You should think before portraying something in a wrong manner. The government is taking it very seriously,” Government sources said on why the Netflix content head was summoned, as per media reports.
Shergill has assured the Centre that all future content on their platform will be carefully aligned with the nation’s sentiments, reports stated.
