Cannes Lions 2024: 8 More Shortlists From India In 5th List; Leo Burnett Continues Its Lead With 4 Selected Entries Today

With Cannes Lions announcing its fifth shortlist today, India’s tally has now moved up from 46 to 54 selected entries as Leo Burnett Mumbai has secured four more shortlists today, followed by three selected entries from Ogilvy Mumbai and one selected entry from Brand David Communications.

Cannes Lions 2024: 8 More Shortlists From India In 5th List; Leo Burnett Continues Its Lead With 4 Selected Entries Today

As the fifth shortlist for the 71st edition of Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2024 is announced today, India’s creative contingent has secured a total of 8 more shortlists across six categories. 

Of these, there were three entries from Leo Burnett Mumbai which were shortlisted in Creative Effectiveness Lions and one in Creative Strategy alongside four entries from Ogilvy Mumbai in Creative Strategy Lions and one entry from Brand David Communications.

Here is a category-wise break up of all the selected entries from India in the fifth shortlist announcement:

A01 (Consumer Goods) 

a. Oreo’s ‘OREO #BRINGBACK2011’ by Leo Burnett, Mumbai. 

A06 (Consumer Services/ Business to Business)

a. Airtel’s ‘AIRTEL 175 RE-PLAYED’ by Leo Burnett, Mumbai. 

B01 (Single Market)

a. Oreo’s ‘OREO #BRINGBACK2011’ by Leo Burnett, Mumbai. 

2. Creative Strategy 

A05 (Media/Entertainment) 

a. Spotify’s ‘FEEL THE MUSIC’ by Leo Burnett, Mumbai 

C03 (Multi-Market Strategy)

There were no shortlists from India in Creative Business Transformation, Creative Commerce and Luxury & Lifestyle Lions.

The sixth set of shortlists for Cannes Lions’ last category- Sustainable Development Goals Lions will be rolled out on June 19, 2024. 

With the announcement of the fifth shortlist for the 70th edition of Cannes Lions, India’s overall tally has now gone up from 46 to 54 entries now across 29 categories. 

In the first shortlist announcement, India garnered a total of three shortlists in Glass: The Lion Of Change Category as one entry each from Leo Burnett India, tgthr and McCann Worldgroup made the cut. 

Similarly, in the second shortlist, Ogilvy Mumbai and VML Mumbai secured 4 shortlists each, followed by McCann Gurugram at 3, and Dentsu Creative Gurgaon and Early Man Film with 2 entries each.

In the third shortlist announcement, VML Mumbai won 6 more shortlists, Leo Burnett Mumbai- 4, followed by Ogilvy Mumbai (including 1 shared shortlist with Rapport Outdoor Advertising) and FCB Kinnect Mumbai with 3 shortlists each, McCann Gurugram- 2 and Dentsu Creative Gurugram and DDB Mudra Group Mumbai at 1 each. 

And in the fourth shortlist announcement, Leo Burnett Mumbai secured 4 shortlists, followed by 2 selected entries from McCann Gurugram and Ogilvy Mumbai and FCB India Gurugram at 1 entry each. 

Currently, India’s Creative contingent’s shortlist tally at Cannes Lions 2024 across 29 categories which have been announced is as follows: 

  1. Leo Burnett Mumbai- 13
  2. Ogilvy Mumbai- 11 (including 1 shared shortlist with Rapport Outdoor Advertising)
  3. VML Mumbai- 10
  4. McCann Worldgroup Gurugram- 8 
  5. FCB Kinnect Mumbai and Dentsu Creative Gurgaon- 3 each
  6. Early Man Film- 2
  7. Brand David Communications Mumbai, DDB Mudra Group Mumbai, FCB India and Tgthr- 1 each
