Scrolling through Netflix to decide which movie to watch next is probably among the hardest things to do. Well, do not worry. We have made it easy for you. We have compiled a list of movies from both Hollywood and Bollywood, along with different genres and themes from which you can choose.
Here Are 9 Movies to Watch on Netflix Right Now–
1. I’m Thinking of Ending Things (2020)
Charlie Kaufman is known for his good direction but the man is just as good of a writer. I’m Thinking of Ending Things is his further exploration into surrealism. The story is captured but never encapsulated within the scenes of a young woman on a car ride to her boyfriend’s home while she is thinking of ending things with him.
The entire plot is filled with interruptions, tone changes, scenes of a janitor mopping the floor, and gloomy incidents amidst their journey. It is wildly confusing but just as much of a masterpiece. You might find it good if you think you would enjoy a Murakami novel.
2. Three of Us (2022)
If you have seen snapshots of this movie on Instagram reels, you might have an idea of the praises it gathered. A woman suffering from dementia takes a trip down memory lane with her husband when she suddenly wishes to visit Vengurla, a town she has never mentioned before but where she studied from 5th to 8th classes.
The moment reveals that being something so close to her that she desires to wish once more before she loses her memory, it is something she hid from those around her. Back in the town, she meets her childhood sweetheart and thus begins a slow-paced tale of the three as they find ways to recover from the past, find new truths, and find closure. Three of Us is a beautiful movie without big miracles but a simple story about life.
3. Kho Gaye Hum Kahan (2023)
Kho Gaye Hum Kahan has received good reviews from the audience, and we believe for the right reasons. Although the movie tries to fit in everything wrong with young people and social media to bring out a superficial plot at some moments, Kho Gaye Hum Kahan carries messages that need to be shown and accepted in our society. From social media bullies to chasing unrequited love to encountering your demons, the movie will pull your heartstrings as you can almost see yourself being reflected in the storyline.
4. Lady Bird (2017)
Lady Bird is now available on Netflix and we couldn’t just not mention it in the list! Saoirse Ronan is on her way to impress us once again with her performance, Lady Bird is a wonderful coming-of-age movie showcasing a strained relationship between a mother and a daughter. There are monologue scenes that will push you to tears along with humorous lines that will make you laugh– Lady Bird tries to show and executes quite well, the experience and unpredictability of being a teenager.
5. Mother of the Bride (2024)
Released on Netflix this month, Mother of the Bride is already trending and gathered some good reviews from the audience. The rom-com follows the story of Lana, who tells her mother only a month before that she is getting married– leaving her somewhat shocked, However, what follows is even more dramatic as her mother finds out that the father of Lana’s fiance is the man who broke her heart several years ago. If you enjoy romantic comedies with a bit of drama, you will enjoy the movie.

6. Madame Web (2024)
Madame Web is a fictional character found in supporting roles with Spiderman in Marvel Comics. The movie is inspired by the same character where Dakota Johnson plays the character of Madame Web. Web met with an accident that made her a clairvoyant– through which she is able to see the future of the so-called world of Spiderman.
The movie has its own shortcomings since talented actors like Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Tahar Rahim, etc, could have performed much better with a more developed and better-aligned plot. Anyhow, it is a fun watch that we would recommend.
7. Fighter (2024)
Fighter plays along similar rhythms that many action thrillers focused on soldiers and armies do in Indian movies. However, the action sequences focusing on chasing fighter planes and strategies with excellent direction in that area make it a very refreshing movie. Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone are an excellent pair but they don’t steal screen time from everyone else.
8. Dunki (2023)
A lot of things may be wrong with the movie but two things that won our hearts were Taapsee Pannu’s performance (which was absolutely hilarious) and the portrayal of illegal migration. The latter subject although mostly explored in terms of Indian immigrants, tells a lot about the feeling of missing one’s home, the reasons behind immigration, and the hardship one faces. It is indeed a good movie but one that can also be repetitive and predictable.
9. The Irishman (2019)
One of the best movies on Netflix, The Irishman is from the gangster genre, which focuses on a truck driver who gets involved with a gang during and later works for Jimmy Hoffa. The movie was based on the novel I Heard You Paint Houses and is an interesting watch.
