The journey of this legend started in his dorm room in New Brunswick with the discovery of himself being called as an entrepreneur and ended with him being the founder of Jersey Champs, the largest jersey store in North America not only to the sports fans but also musicians, entrepreneur, and celebrities.
Young minds with great talent!
Sean Kelly, a 21year old fellow has built Jersey Champs in two years, attracted over 1 Million Instagram followers and has worked with great musicians and influencers like Logic, Khalid, Mark Cuban from Shark Tank.
Started (very) early!
The entrepreneur spirit caught him in the 5th grade by selling candies to his peers for which he also got suspended, but Kelly refused to look back. He had a very different strategy towards life and school system and left his higher education to pursue building Jersey Champs full-time.
Low-cost, less-people theory!
Kelly had this theory of one-person business and is one of the entrepreneurs who use low-cost technology like social media and e-commerce bringing around $1 million to $2.49 million in a year.
Observation and ideation
The idea of manufacturing the jerseys struck him during the time when he was in college. He made an observation that most of the high school and college students wear these jerseys in their day to day life. These jerseys had a sports logo and to manufacture sports jerseys one needs to have proper licenses and millions of dollars in sales.
So, he decided to start it off with custom jerseys for hip-hop artists, rappers and even Vintage TV shows. He easily arranged the revenue shares with the help of the brands he leveraged. He started with a $1000 which he had saved in his high school by launching his business as a freelance graphic designer.
With the help of a manufacturer in Pakistan whom he met on Alibaba, he put up a Shopify site and even created a small batch of inventory.
The marketing plan!
Gradually he started promoting his jerseys in the social media feed of different musicians and built his own social media following on Instagram with more than 2.1million people.
He adopted many measures for promoting his jerseys such as announcing giveaways and also participated in challenges. With modernization and change in technology, he tried his best to cope up and even started paying for advertisements on Facebook. He considers these to be a very little investment for the kind of profits he has reaped.
Chill and work!
Kelly prefers doing the work from home and does not necessarily feel the need for an office. He even travels to different places spreading a word about his entrepreneurship and social media.
While his business is touching skies, he is always in search of different ways to develop and expand. He is further aiming to market his business on the social media platform of Tik Tok. Kelly’s life story is a perfect example of ‘Dreams are never too big’. Taking decisions and choosing to perform without the fear of criticism or uncertainty I all that you need to do!
